Hello, I just bought the book Weird Kentucky yesterday and I love reading about all the unusal stuff in KY. I was really excited when I saw a story about Gates of Hell off of St. Johns Road in Elizabethtown, I myself live in northern KY and my nephew and his girlfriend and I made the 3 hour trip to visit this cemetery. We arrived in the late afternoon not really sure what the stories of the cemetery were, we had just heard it was a spooky place to visit. We parked our car and got out and walked around looking at the different graves it was really hot outside it was mid July and my nephews girlfriend walk back towards the back part of the cemetery and she turned around to tell us to come look at this tombstone and we could see her breath and she got a feeling of cold air like air conditioning hit her. That freaked us out a bit and we started back towards the car and over to the left of us we found a charred area of grass and a pile of bones. That was enough for us we left right after that!!! After getting home I looked up so info on the cemetery and have since found that there are devil worshipers who do their rituals there and also according to the story in Weird Ky they actually saw a group of devil worshipers there!!! Its a very spooky place even in the afternoon, I don't think I will ever go back there again!!!

I live in Hardin County and would like to visit this site as I have heard many stories concerning the Gates of Hell Cemetery. I read its original name is Kasey's Cemetery. I have also heard that this poor resting place has been the site of much vandalism over the years and that it is patrolled regularly by authorities.

Thats good that they keep a good eye on it these days..Too bad its been vandalized so many times

Scott, I'm sure it was amimal bones. Every now and again you hear stories of animal sacrifice and animal bodies being found.
The News Enterprise did a story about the cemetary a few years ago, but I haven't been able to find it in the archives.
We went there once, in the afternoon. We made it to the edge of the cemetary and I couldn't make myself go on. My husband said if I wasn't going in, he sure wouldn't!

I am sure it was animal bones it appeared to be a leg bone of some type, I was thinking dog or something. I have heard there are a lot of animal sacrifices there!!! I didn't stick around long enough to examine them, lol, I saw the bones and took off. It did appear charred as well as the ground underneath it. I will say though that I walked the entire graveyard (it's not large at all) and I did not see a disturbed grave other than a headstone knocked over by a large tree!!!!

i was there yesterday.there is a sign in front that says"Kasey Cemetery"i walked through the whole graveyard by myself.just about every tombstones were knocked over or broken.i got there when it was still light outside.it did not seem creepy at all, actually it seemed kinda peaceful.but when it got got dark it felt like the atmosphere changed.i started hearing noises on both sides that sounded like someone walking but i think my imagination was working overtime by then.two female freinds of mine were sitting in the car facing the graveyard.the said it was to cold to get out but i am pretty sure they were just being sissies.i thought i heard voices and i stopped for a couple of minutes to listen and i am pretty sure it was just a cow or something.when i got to the car the girls said excitedly"something is out there".the said where light came through the trees that something was moving around blocking the light.i watched a little and saw nothing.i took 77 pictures but found nothing.we saw no one else there and no one stopped us and told us to leave.no hillbilly rednecks chased us out and no police told us to leave.
